Congratulations to Conner Bushnell, field engineer, for earning the July 2021 Employee Spotlight.
Gabe Deurloo, underground division manager, says “Since stepping into his role as field engineer, Conner has made an immediate impact with our team. He’s always looking outside the box for ways to improve his responsibilities and is blazing the trail for future Mark III field engineers as his ideas and data tracking procedures are often referenced and used as examples. He’s begun training the next round of field engineers as he prepares for an upcoming advancement to project engineer. Thus far, I’m amazed at what he’s accomplished in such a short time in construction and see Conner having very strong career with Mark III.”

What is your favorite Mark III core value (teamwork, innovation, integrity, work-hard-play-hard, transparency) and how does it play a part in your everyday role & responsibilities?
My favorite Mark III core value is transparency. It’s important to be transparent with your team to build trust. Working with a team who is open, communicative, and accountable makes work so much smoother, productive, and enjoyable.
How do our core values play into your everyday role & responsibilities?
Each core value is a part of my day. I have a great opportunity to practice the Mark III core values by working with alongside the underground team at UC Davis. We have very strict guidelines and tight schedules; without working together as a team and instilling integrity and teamwork into our day, our job would be extremely difficult.
How has Mark III helped you in your career development?
Mark III has helped me tremendously in my career development. Being in the field engineer role, I’ve been forced to come out my shell and have had major responsibilities placed on me. I have a great opportunity to work with both the office and field team which allows me to learn the ins and outs of how a successful project is run.
What is your proudest moment at Mark III?
My proudest moment at Mark III is whenever I can help the team get a good productive day in. I try to take every opportunity I can to have an efficient and effective day everyday.
