Each year, the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and construction companies all across the country celebrate by highlighting the successes of women in a variety of roles across the construction industry.

Meet the Women of Mark III
Name: Carrie Malas
Title: Electrical Trainee
What makes you proud of your work?: It makes me really proud when you see the end result of your job and everything came together. Especially when I’m bending pipe and everything matches up and flows really well.
Name: Katrina Bernal
Title: Electrical Trainee
Why did you join Mark III?: I really love that they value family and that we are all connected. They are really big on people. They are very big on teamwork. I really liked that they all wanted us to be united.
Name: Sienna Martinez

Favorite part about your job: When I have my coworkers come up and say that I work hard and they see me sweating and see my work is high quality. It warms my heart to know that people see my hard work.
Name: Christina Kell
Title: Safety Manager
What does it mean to be a woman in construction: It means that you are confident in what you do, especially in my position. I get to work with a lot of great guys in the field. It’s important that when I help them I am confident in my delivery.

Advice for women joining the industry? Never let anybody tell you that you can’t do it. Never give up, just persevere and keep going. You can do anything.

Biggest milestone since joining the industry: The biggest milestone I have achieved at Mark III is being a part of and watching our marketing team develop and grow. From the time that I started to where we are today, we have an actual team. We have goals, initiatives and a plan around how we are communicating and messaging what our field team is putting into place everyday, and it’s really exciting.

Favorite part about your job: My favorite part of my job is getting to work with a ton of people every day. I love seeing our team come together, teamwork is one of our core values. When we can get the group marching to the same beat and in the same direction, it is exciting to see the magic happen.
