Congratulations to Ciro Cruz, underground utility pipe-fitter/laborer, for earning the July 2020 Employee Spotlight!

Gabe Deurloo, underground division manager, says, “When it comes to being a team player, Ciro’s your man. Well-liked by his peers and a damn hard worker. Ciro’s attitude and work ethic leads by example and he’s always willing to help those around him. He always has a great attitude and he’s the kind of guy you just enjoy working with.”

John Pearson, multi-trade superintendent, says “Ciro has been a great help to me as I have to split time between multiple jobs. I can give Ciro a list of tasks that need to be completed while I’m gone and never worry about them being completed. He is always eager to learn something new and gets genuinely excited when you show him a better way to do something. I would love to have him on any job I am working on in the future.”

Interview

What is your favorite Mark III core value (teamwork, innovation, integrity, work-hard-play-hard, transparency) and how does it play a part in your everyday role & responsibilities?

My favorite core value is teamwork, because I love to help other people when ever they need it. It doesn’t matter to me who they are or what they are doing, if they could use the help, I want to be there for them.

How has Mark III helped you in your career development?

Right now I am working at Briggs Hall. I like to help my foreman by working as a lead man to keep the job moving forward while he takes care of his other jobs. Mark III hired me to be a concrete finisher 5 years ago, now I have been given a chance to learn new things as I work with underground department. I have learned how to install utilities and operate equipment.

What is your proudest moment at Mark III?

My proudest moment at Mark III was when my foreman John Pearson gave me my own set of keys for the equipment and opened the door for me to learn something new.
