M3 MEP provided complete electrical and life safety services for an Air Mobility R&D and Testing Facility within a 75K SF building. M3 MEP worked closely with the general contractor, architect, and electrical engineer to coordinate the electrical installation for high end office spaces and power for the client’s complex testing equipment. The scope for this project included electrical distribution equipment, Title 24 compliant lighting and controls, Life Safety System (Fire Alarm), 40kW UPS system, 10KW lighting inverters, 3MW BESS Micro Grid System, infrastructure for AV/CCTV/Access Control systems, 250A Micro Buss System for power and data, and EV charging stations.

The installation of the 3MW BESS Micro Grid system required heavy coordination between the owner, general contractor, electrical engineer, architect, equipment manufacturers, controls engineers, and the entire M3 MEP project team. During construction, M3 MEP received notification from the manufacturer that a last minute software update caused compatibility issues with the unit hardware and the operating system. This was going to create a 7 month delay in delivering a fully functional system and potentially interrupt the client’s day to day operations and ability to utilize the facility to it’s full intent. In service to the client, M3 MEP found a solution that allowed the BESS to be operated manually. This eliminated any delays of the schedule allowed the client to continue with the planned use of the facility.
