Congratulations to Steven McMann, HVAC estimator
, for earning the September 2021 Employee Spotlight.
Bob Amos, director of estimating, says “Steve started estimating in January having been an HVAC foreman before that, he has made the transition from the field into the office very well. He takes initiative to learn new aspects of his trade and combines that with his past experience to produce quality estimates to help the team get new work. He has picked up on the fundamentals of estimating very quickly making him a reliable member of the estimating team in a short amount of time.
I appreciate Steve because he shows up to work with a positive attitude and a drive to work hard every day. He completes his work sooner than expected and then asks for more to do. He exemplifies all of our core values, but his Teamwork stands out to me because he works well with our team and has made himself an invaluable member of it.”

Interview
What is your favorite Mark III core value (teamwork, innovation, integrity, work-hard-play-hard, transparency) and how does it play a part in your everyday role & responsibilities?
My favorite core value is innovation, not only can it be the hardest I also believe it’s the most critical. When I was in the field it was able to make everyone’s life easier and increase productivity. If we want to lead the evolution of construction innovations the way to do it.
How do our core values play into your everyday role & responsibilities?
The core values play a role in making day to day work easier, teamwork the ability to rely on others and them to be 
able to rely on you crucial, innovation see above, Integrity if you don’t have it your quality will suffer and your teammates will stop relying on you, work-hard-play-hard this is self-explanatory I haven’t played hard since iv had my two girls, transparency allows for more information which allows for less room for error.
How has Mark III helped you in your career development?
Mark III has helped me in my development by allowing employees to do what they want to a certain extent I was given the opportunity to be involved with HVAC, Pipefitting, Underground operating a 950M, And now estimating.
What is your proudest moment at Mark III
My proudest moment at Mark III would have to be when I won the kayak at our 40th-anniversary party no just kidding, That would have to be now being in this position allowing me to get the right type of work so we can be success full.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
What I like to do outside of work is spending time with my wife and my two girls, also burning meat any way I can BBQ Smoking Griddle, camping, kayaking, shooting, disc golf, riding my dirt bike. Now what I have time for is my family keeping up with two girls takes all my time and more and wouldn’t change it for anything.
