Spotlight on Shaadi

Congratulations to Shaadi Sexton, electrical detailer, for earning the October 2021 Employee Spotlight.

Justin Tucker, VDC division manager, says “Anyone that has had the pleasure to work with Shaadi will tell you how much of a badass he is. His dedication to teamwork and willingness to do whatever is necessary to serve the needs of Mark III have been proven time and time again and no matter the situation. Shaadi always maintains a positive attitude and calm demeanor. Over the last couple years he has grown into his current role of Electrical Detailer and within his first year in the position was able to take the lead role on projects and execute at a high level. Shaadi is an absolute rockstar and an integral part of the VDC team. I know that the success of the electrical division in 2021 is in part due to the incredible work that he is producing as a Detailer. Shaadi’s work ethic, eagerness to learn and integrity are what make him a great teammate and I look forward to seeing him grow in his career at Mark III.”

Thank you for your commitment to Mark III, Shaadi!

Interview

What is your favorite Mark III core value (teamwork, innovation, integrity, work-hard-play-hard, transparency) and how does it play a part in your everyday role & responsibilities?

My favorite Mark III core value is teamwork. From being awarded a contract to close-out, it’s an all-hands on deck endeavor. I firmly believe no matter where you fall within this process, you play a vital role on the team and have an impact on our success.

How do our core values play into your everyday role & responsibilities?

Virtual Construction requires a constant line of communication with the field and manufacturing. We’re constantly working as a team in an innovative mindset to identify any areas where we can improve or increase efficiency. It’s important that all feedback from the field/manufacturing be transparent. While it’s great to hear a win, hearing what didn’t work is the only way we can make improvements for future projects.

How has Mark III helped you in your career development?

Transferring from a mom-and-pop sized electrical contractor with 10 employees, to Mark III with 300+ employees, was an exciting move for me. My journey began with being on-boarded by the Plumbing/Pipe Fitting division. This was followed with transferring to the Electrical division, then working multiple roles in our manufacturing facility, and to my current role in VC. Mark III has provided me with every opportunity along the way. I truly believe this is the most unique construction company out there that will cross-train you between trades if you’re willing to put in the work.

What is your proudest moment at Mark III

I wouldn’t say I have one moment in particular, but I was proud to be a part of the Amazon Stockton project. The scale, pace, and challenges of constant design changes pushed me to adapt and grow as a Detailer.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Outside of work I enjoy cooking/barbecuing, hunting, dispersed camping (unfortunately fires put a damper on that this year) and watching NCAA/NFL games.
