Congratulations to Darrell Pirtle, Mark III mechanical estimator for earning the January 2020 Employee Spotlight!

Relationship building through integrity is important to him and comes easy. He sells our services to clients not only because of his drive to win, but because he truly cares about the Mark III team and what we have to offer. He has been very successful in landing some nice projects and I greatly appreciate the hard work he puts in to drive success at Mark III.”

Interview

What is your favorite Mark III core value (teamwork, innovation, integrity, work-hard-play-hard, transparency), and why?

While all are very important to the success of our company, my 3 favorites would be: teamwork, integrity, and transparency. Of these 3 I have a hard time choosing as they all tie into what I believe but will go with TEAMWORK and here is why. No matter what we do or where we are at on the totem poll, we will always need some form of help or guidance from somebody. The team at Mark III is hands down the best I have ever had the opportunity to work with as everybody I know here is always willing to come together. Experienced or not, they will do whatever they can to make sure you have what you need to get the job done at the end of the day.

How do our core values play into your everyday role & responsibilities?

Our core values are the “meat and potatoes” of who we are as a company. These values build and provide for a better “me.” As an estimator, I not only get the opportunity to work with many of our team members, but also general contractors, developers, architects, engineers, building owners, facility planners, and pretty much everybody in between since we at Mark III do all MEP and underground trades. No matter who I am dealing with, I always focus on our core values to ensure I am doing my part in trying to find a better way to build things and that the team we put together for any particular project is the best that we have. To me, winning is about crossing the finish line hand-in-hand with our partners and going on to race another race. That is how I see my role and responsibility to Mark III and our partners.

How has Mark III helped you in your career development?

I’ve been in the HVAC industry for about 35 years with about 20 of it in the field and the remainder in the office estimating and or managing projects. I had no idea when I came to Mark III that I would again the opportunity to be involved in negotiating multi-trade bids and business development. These are things that have enriched my professional career as I get closer to the days of “all day long honey do lists.” And maybe a little traveling too.

What is your proudest moment at Mark III?

I can’t say I have a specific moment, but when we get a big win, that makes me extremely happy. Being part of a team that has a tremendous amount of work from “repeat customers” is an amazing feeling knowing that from an estimate, virtual construction, prefabrication, installation, and the final closeouts and training, the client wants our team on the next project. That encompasses ALL of our core values together and is something to be proud of.
