Posted on March 24, 2021 •

Electrical issues can be daunting but especially so when you have a business to run. We’re sharing six questions our customers ask most frequently to save you time (and panic) the next time you run into electrical troubles.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. I need to add power outlets, can you help?

We know there is a constant need for additional power which can stem from a few different driving forces. The most common reasons our customers need to add more power are due to increased number of people in a facility or adding new equipment.

If you need additional power outlets added to your facility, Mark III has skilled commercial electrical technicians who can complete the work for you within a matter of hours (depending on the quantity you’re looking for).

2. How much power do I have?

Unfortunately, because every customer and facility is unique, we cannot accurately answer this without visiting your building. Contact us to schedule your consultation today.

3. How do I know if it’s my bulb or ballast that is out?

Now you might be asking: What’s the difference between a bulb or a ballast? So let’s answer that first.

To determine if it’s the ballast or bulb, we use process of elimination. First we’ll change the bulb, if that doesn’t fix the issue then we’ll investigate the ballast.

When it comes to lighting repairs we know many of our clients wait to change bulbs and/or ballasts until several are out. Some of our clients have janitors or facilities maintenance technicians who handle this, but if you don’t, Mark III service can help you.

4. How do I know if my HVAC issues are mechanical or electrical?

First, the good news is we can help you either way. When it comes to HVAC issues, we always dispatch a HVAC technician to diagnose the issue. They will be able to identify if the issue is power or equipment/motor related and suggest the proper maintenance or service to fix the issue.

5. My breaker keeps shutting down, even when I reset it! What do I do?

Good news! Your breaker is doing exactly what it is supposed to be doing to protect your system. We suggest sending out a technician to take a look and formally diagnose the problem. Contact us to schedule your consultation today.

How to avoid electrical issues?

When we flip a switch, we expect a light to turn on. It becomes such second nature that many times we forget the inter-working’s of what makes our cell phones charge, coffee makers brew, and computers run.

Everything needs maintenance and this includes your electrical infrastructure. While each client’s needs are unique, here are a few common items we recommend for all building owners:

  • Make sure you are doing proper maintenance of the distribution (boards) and main switch board (MSB) on an annual basis.
  • Check on lose bolts as they can create heat which could lead to a massive failure.
  • Check up on you bus, bars, and breakers.
